I took time off for my birthday this year and didn't take my usual birthday trip. Usually I make a point to be gone for my birthday because it's easier to be somewhere exploring, rather than making plans to celebrate yourself with friends and trying to make sure they have a good time. 

Admittedly, this year I had a bit of the birthday blues. I took two weeks off from work because I was planning to go somewhere, but when I couldn't decide on a location I stayed home for a 2 week staycation.  I was able to get chores done, catch up on TV, go to a museum, but truthfully I was bored most of the time. My friends are working during the day so I wasn't able to make many lunch plans. I do most of my shopping online so I wasn't hitting up the mall everyday...what does that leave left? Working out! 

The good news is that I felt super cute each time I stepped foot in that studio! I don't even want to workout if I'm not wearing something from  Lola Getts. So...yep, that's how I kept myself busy. Exercise. I've been going to TrainingMate since about February and I really enjoy it, so I used this time off to get in a few extra classes. I told myself I would master the plank and an assisted pull-up at some point so now was my chance to really practice. I attended class eight times in seven days and I took one day off. To say that I was tired would be an understatement. But I did it and I am glad I did. Setting a goal to exercise gave me something to look forward to.  It was small and simple, but sometimes the small goals have the biggest payoff.
