Summertime Shopping

Is it just me or have you been looking forward to the summer all year long. This year in Los Angeles we've hide a lot of rain and I have been looking forward to swimsuit season since January.  It felt like we were having a monsoon for three months! I know I know that is completely an exaggeration however for a Southern California girl, one drop of rain on the ground means we all need to pull out our parkas!

Recently I've been taking advantage of summer sales at a few of my favorite online clothing stores via EBates.  If you're unfamiliar EBates, here's how it works. You shop at your favorite stores and get cash back! It's that simple. It's free to sign up and if you're already doing most of your shopping online then this is perfect for you. The best part is, if you already have accounts with your favorite retailers all you have to do is log-in to your account from the EBates website or the app. Plus, you can always take advantage of the sale the retailer is having at the time! And each quarter you get a nice check, direct deposit, or PayPal deposit from EBates! Viola!

Honestly, I was super skeptical at first but I figured why not and took a chance. When I got my check for $10 at the end of three months, I was shocked! IT WORKED! So, if you are interested in checking out EBates, take it from me....It is worth it!

Here is a list of my favorite places to shop via EBates...but you can honestly search just about anything!
  • ASOS
  • Banana Republic
  • Old Navy
  • Target (I know right!? I use my RedCard too!)
  • Shein
  • Lane Bryant
  • Soma
  • Foot Locker
Happy shopping and let me know when you get your first check!

Summertime Sweater

Shorts: Old Navy//Sweater: BP. Nordstrom//Sandals: //Sunnies: Le Specs//Bag: Jackie Robbins Leather + Jewelry // Earrings: BaubleBar

Even though it's almost 100 degrees outside I still decided to put on a sweater today. I knew I would be up early going to church, then  to brunch with my girlfriends, and ending the day at the Skirball Center for the Jim Henson exhibit.

Since museums and churches are always cold I knew a sweater would be a good choice. I bought this sweater from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. I purposely bought it two sizes too big. In Southern California it's always hot and rarely necessary to wear sweaters, so I figured having a sweater that was off the shoulder would be the most effective. I mean a sweater in LA is purely for style and not function.

I decided to pair it with an old pair of shorts from Old Navy, a pair of fabulous statement earrings from BaubleBar, and my new sunnies from Le Specs, which I also bought at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.

Here's the thing about the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. A lot of people think they're getting regular items on sale, but in reality what you're getting the upcoming fall season at a 30%- 40% discount. Ideally this would be perfect for fall but we all know that Southern California doesn't have a true fall season. We have not so hot, kind of hot, and super hot!

I also purchased the same sweater in a really pretty yellow, and I'm hoping I get to wear them both throughout summer and into fall. If I decide to not wear them off-the-shoulder then I can easily put a lace camisole underneath.  Plus, I don't need everybody see my bra!

Red Hot on the Beach

CONFESSION:

As each summer comes and eventually goes, I realize I am getting more and more obsessed with swimsuits! I literally look forward to searching for new swimsuits all the time. Maybe it has to do with all of the options that are available? I mean, until recently there weren't too many cute and affordable options for swimsuits if you were over a size 10. Now, my options are endless! THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!

Aruba: One Happy Island

If you have been following me on Instagram, you saw that I was recently in Aruba! It was wonderful! Having this opportunity to go to a small desert island was a once in a lifetime opportunity that I am so blessed to have had. I spent six days with friends laying on the beach, playing in the pool, riding Segways, taking a tour of the island, and eating the most delicious BBQ.

The more and more I travel, I realize how wonderful the world can be and that we should focus on the positive aspects of our lives. It can be really easy to quickly identify the negative and spend too much time thinking about why things happen. Personally, I would like to think about the good things in my life and dwell on the beauty of what is and where I am. The plan is make my life similar to Aruba-One Happy Island.

White Bikini

In my previous post, I talked about Puerto Rico being my place of refuge and my happy place. Another thing I have come to realize over time, is that I am who I am. As times goes I become more and more comfortable in my own skin and what I look like. Each year before and during "swimsuit season" I look forward to searching for the best swimsuits I can find that are going to be flattering to my figure. I may not be a size 2 or even a 10, but I am so comfortable in own skin, that size is a non-factor!

I found this swimsuit at SwimSuitsForAll and it is by far my favorite! There is something about the color white and summer that makes me smile. So when I see a clothing item or a swimsuit in white something comes over me and I have to have it! LOL!!

The fit on this swimsuit is great, however I probably should have sized up one size with the bottoms just to add an ounce more of comfort. But as you can see, that didn't stop me!
