TOMS Sale

As The Simple Glamazon, I look for opportunities to get great items that fit into my budget! I recently discovered warehouse sales! Warehouse sales are a great place to get items from some of your favorite designers at a great price. Usually the items are from the previous season, but if you look hard enough you will find some items you can use all year long.

This past Friday, two of my closest friends and I made the long journey from L.A. all the way out to Corona, CA. Ok it’s not that much of a journey, but in L.A. time 60 miles means 2 hours in a car. Thank God I had good company! This was my second TOMS warehouse sale, and again it was a doozie! At each warehouse sale you have find the boxes with your size, dig through boxes of shoes, then when you find something make sure it fits! Sometimes you find things you like, and sometimes you don’t. I don’t usually have a problem finding something I like.

The great thing about wearing TOMS, is that the company does so much for others. For each pair of shoes you purchase, you are giving a pair of shoes to someone in need. After some additional research, I have discovered that the money is not only going towards shoes, but also clean water, medical care, and education. Often times we take for granted simple things in life, like clean water, but something as easy as purchasing a pair of shoes can help so many. How AWESOME is that! Take a look at the website if you are interested in HOW IT WORKS.

Eaton Canyon

Originally, the purpose of this blog was to talk about the fashion choices and chances I take. But I wanted to take a small detour from what I usually write about and talk about my easy breezy Sunday morning hiking Eaton Canyon in Pasadena, Ca.

For the New Year, I made two promises to myself. 1. Start a blog (done!). 2. Get out into the world more. So I arranged with my two girlfriends to go for a hike once a month. L.A. often is thought of as the land of traffic and smog, but there are so many places to enjoy fresh air and nature.

I recently discovered Eaton Canyon and it is FABULOUS! It’s more hiking than I was intending to do on a Sunday morning, but it was well worth it! It was 2 hours (there and back) of hiking up hills, across streams, and over rocks. There is a beautiful waterfall tucked inside, and it is a sight to be seen!

Looking back at my hike from the weekend, I realized something. There are so many things in life that are around us, but sometimes we have to hike over mountains and across streams to find the waterfall.

White and Chambray

"Clothes are like a good meal, a good movie, great pieces of music.” Michael Kors

As a child I was always very self-conscience of myself and my figure. I had always been bigger and taller than most of my friends or anyone my age. Because of those insecurities I had stayed away from certain styles, fabrics, patterns and colors. In particular, white pants! I had always thought of white pants as a friend of the “skinny” girls. I lived with the Wives Tail of, “White is not very slimming!” so I stayed away from them. Up until now, I have only had 1 pair of white pants in my closet. (I’m 30, so that a little while!) I love them, but I've only worn them out in the world about 3 or 4 times.

As a true Pinterest addict, I have been pinning outfits with chambray tops and white pants then OBSESSING over how I was going to make this work for me. Thanks to Old Navy, I was able to find the 2 major components of my new obsession.

It Looks Like Rain

Last weekend we had a torrential storm! Well, in southern California that means 4 inches of rain…lol!
I had been dying to try out a new look, so I defiantly was not going to let the rain stop me! I have had thiOld Navy  skirt for a while and I usually wear it to work with a basic oxford or sometimes even a t-shirt. But I wanted to jazz it up this time, so I paired it with a chambray top and booties! Plus I wanted to try out my new purse!

Rainy Oscar Night

Before many people were glued to their televisions watching the Oscar’s last night, I was glued to the pre-show watching the red carpet! I love to see the actors and actresses get all dressed up and then stumble when asked, “Who are you wearing?” All in all it was a fantastic night and everyone looked great!

As I watched the show, I thought to myself, “If I was to be invited to the Oscars, what or who would I wear?” Here is what I came up with! Sadly, like the movies stars, I had to fight with the rain…
