My T-Shirt Journey

Monday, July 24, 2017

Top: Lucky Brand//Jeans: Old Navy//Booties: Franco Sarto//Handbag: JustFab
Earrings: Banana Republic//Necklace: Old//Watch: Michael Kors

I am not the t-shirt girl. If you were to look in my closet you would see maybe five t-shirts. So when I saw this t-shirt at Lucky Brand I was intrigued. It is not your typical t-shirt. The cut-outs in the neckline make it stand out. Not to mention graphic representing the band Journey on the front! Hello? Who doesn't love Journey?!

I knew this would be perfect for weekends and easy to dress up with booties or dress down with sneakers. So after trying it on twice in the store, and my co-worker highly encouraging me, I was sold! It is the perfect fun, super soft, and incredibly cute non t-shirt I have ever worn!

Simple Independence

Tuesday, July 4, 2017

Jeans: Old Navy//Sneakers: Nike//T-Shirt: Lace N Leopard
Watch: Michael Kors//Earrings: Banana Republic

Every year when the 4th of July comes around we grab our BBQs and swimsuits and use this time to celebrate by the local water feature or in someone's backyard. We spend time with our friends and family hopefully with our hearts filled with gratitude for our freedoms.

When I think of what I will be wearing this 4th of July my mind goes straight to jeans and a t-shirt. What screams Americana more than your favorite pair of jeans, a simple sassy t-shirt, and a comfy pair of sneakers?? And, when you find those sneakers in red...well then there is no going back!

Sometimes I feel like I need to be over the top and glamorous in everything I do. I have to remind myself that there is plenty of glamour in the simple pieces I wear. This Independence Day find the simple pieces in your closet and wear them to your BBQs and pool parties. Consider it a day of freedom to embrace who you are-Simply Glamorous!

I hope you all have a wonderful Independence Day. Happy 4th of July!

In the Navy

Jumpsuit: Debshops//Heels: JustFab//Handbag: JustFab//Aviators: LOFT //Watch: Michael Kors

As much as I love clothes, I struggle sometimes in the morning when I need to get dressed for work. When I know I will have an audience for the day (or the week) I know I need to be mindful of what I have on. I need to look professional, however I can't help to add a touch of style because it's so much a part of who I am. I also need to take into consideration how I will maneuver around a room, still be comfortable, and not get too hot!

Okay okay so this is the billionth jumpsuit you've seen me post, but when it comes to getting dressed for work jumpsuits make my life SUPER DUPER easy! I don't know about you all, but I like to hug my sheets and pillows as long as I can in the morning. Think about those days when your alarm goes off and you lie there thinking to yourself, "What day is it?" or "Do I really have to get up?". These are the days when a great jumpsuit will be your best friend. Climb into it and go!

This jumpsuit specifically is great because not only is the color appropriate for the office, but the crochet detail gives the piece a very fun and summery feel.

When you have to get dressed for work think about what you can easily pull on and will make you look and feel fabulous.

Ripley Rader's Takeover

Thursday, June 15, 2017

Well you all know by now that I am the self titled Jumpsuit Queen. When I discovered that Ripley Rader+ carried the best jumpsuits for us tall girls I was all over it! Normally I don't like to have too many pieces that are similar, however these two suits serve two different purposes.

This jumpsuit is perfect for those of us who are always in a hurry. You can literally throw this in your overnight bag and know that you have something to put on that can easily be dressed up or down. The long sleeves add an elegant touch so I would suggest packing your favorite earrings, bracelets, necklaces, and a two pairs of great shoes and call it a day! I literally felt like a bad-ass when I put this on. Oh! And the waistline is designed to be adjustable based on your liking! If you like to have a lot of cleavage, then expand the waistline. If you like to cover up, then pull it together. These two movements will change the neckline and give the jumpsuit a different look! Also, if you pull together the waistline in the back right at your tailbone, you get a little extra curve to your booty! Plus, the material is jersey so you don't have to worry about wrinkles!

This Catsuit by Ripley Rader+ is EVERYTHING. It's form fitting, which I love, and the long zipper going up the back of the suit will draw just enough attention when you walk in the room for people to ask themselves, "Who is that?". When I put on this Catsuit I smiled then looked at Ripley and said, "Ooohh...this is good." It's made of high quality knit so this would definitely be something you would have in your closet forever! One of those pieces that you would have for 20 years!

O' Caftan O' Caftan

Caftan: Ripley Rader+

Every summer I look for ways to liven up my wardrobe outside of summer dresses and swimsuits...WHICH I LOVE! Sometimes (always) I want to channel my inner spirit of an older glamorous southern woman who lunches with the ladies, drinks rosé, summers on a yacht, and wears all of her jewelry at once. I swear...if I won the lottery...

I recently discovered an amazing designer named Ripley Rader who makes the most wonderful effortless luxurious pieces. She is based here in LA and her designs are classic and timeless. Each time I put on something new I thought to myself, "I will have this forever."

This caftan spoke to me when I saw it. I have always wanted to prance around my life in a luxurious caftan and now is my chance. As soon as I put it on I literally came out and twirling. I mean, how feminine is this?!!

If you are looking for something that will instantly pull out all of your feminine energy, head over to Ripley Rader+ and grab this caftan! Tell them I sent you! Use code 'THESIMPLEGLAMAZON' and receive 10% off of your order!

Blue Love Comes in a Set

Crop Top and Pleated  Pant Set: Rebdolls//Sandals: Sam Edelman//Handbag: JustFab
Watch: Michael Kors//Earrings: Loren Hope

Who doesn't love a two piece set? I absolutely do! It makes getting dressed so much easier because you already know what pieces will go together. I usually spend too much time thinking about what I have in my closet that will work together. When I know there is super cute set in my closet, I am ready to go in a flash! Well...not really but you know what I mean. I of course need to add shoes, a great bag and some jewelry.

Urban Jungle

Monday, June 5, 2017

LA is no doubt an urban jungle. There is always something going on or something to see! If you are bored or not sure what to do, just walk outside. I am not from a world of having something to do but I will say that I have grown to love it! As a matter of fact, expect it!

Just because there is always something going on, don't assume I need to be dressed 'to the nines' at all times. Now don't get me wrong I do love getting dressed all the way up, but sometimes you will catch me strolling casually through DTLA for lunch, strong drinks, and browsing through a sample sale.

Here is another great jumpsuit from Rebdolls that will make your casual days easy. Throw this on and take a day to yourself to do what you like in  your local urban jungle.

That Pink Door

Jumpsuit: ASOS//Sunnies: QUAY Australia//Watch: Michael Kors//Necklace: Old (similar HERE)// Handbag: JustFab

Part of living in Southern California means you have a right of passage to visit one of the most coveted places of relaxation-Palm Springs. Palm Springs is a desert filled with great restaurants, amazing architecture, and even more amazing shopping. One of my best friends and I decided to have a girls weekend out in Palms Springs, so one Friday after work I took the drive out to meet her. It was wonderful. We slept in, had delicious meals and got some quality shopping and gossip time in.

I was really looking forward to seeing all of the super amazing architecture there. Palm Springs is known for having some of the most beautiful mid-century modern homes. So I of course did some research and found this house with the most beautiful door! This home is known as 'That Pink Door' and is in the most quiet quaint suburban neighborhood. It is simple and gorgeous!

What I love about traveling; whether it be a long or short trip, is that there are always such great places to see. Every city has it's own little gems that make for the best photo-ops! I promised myself as a young girl that I would see the world. Palm Springs may not be too far away but it is the perfect simple town with a lot of glam!

Jumpsuit Addiction

Monday, May 8, 2017

Okay, so in my last post I talked about going overboard with too much print. Well, I forgot to mention that it is totally acceptable when the print is on a fabulous jumpsuit!

If you've been following my style journey for the past four years you most definitely know I absolutely love a jumpsuit and a romper! There is something so wonderful about one piece of clothing that makes me feel chic and glamorous, and is so simple to wear.

I wanted to make sure I was able to give you some style inspiration for mother's day this Sunday. We usually spend the day with our mothers having breakfast or brunch. So why not make sure we look great while we sip champagne!

Gone Gingham

Thursday, May 4, 2017

Top: Banana Republic//Jeans: Old Navy//Handbag: JustFab//Sandals: JS by Jessica Simpson//Sunnies: Free People//Earrings: Loren Hope//Watch: Michael Kors//Necklace: Old

When I first started seeing pieces in gingham I was a little cautious. I thought to myself, "Could this work for me?" Don’t get me wrong, I love the idea of gingham and was happy to see one amazingly cute gingham dress after the next!  But for some reason I just couldn't find anything that worked for me. So I looked and browsed until I finally came across this super cute off-the-shoulder top at Banana Republic. BTW, Banana Republic has been my go-to whenever I need to find something that’s classy and super stylish.

At first sight I wasn't too sure about this top. I mean, I was dying to find something in  gingham, but I was still struggling with the whole idea. There I stood in the dressing room, posing back and forth trying to picture how I could make this work. Prints can be very tricky. There’s always the problem of going too far and wearing too much of one print. Then there’s the option of pairing it with another more subtle print. Because I wanted to make sure this gingham top gets the spotlight, I decided to pair it with a solid color. Viola! Gingham gets center stage and the outfit ends up looking bold and balanced!

If you’re thinking about adding prints to your wardrobe, put some thought into what you’re trying to showcase. Is it a single part of the look or the whole look itself? Think about the accessories you might add and how they’ll accent your outfit. Remember, subtlety is key when working with something as lively as prints.

Gingham can most definitely be a tricky animal, but with the right amount of care and planning it can really take your wardrobe to the next level!
