Back to Basics...Again

Bodysuit: ASOS //Jeans: ASOS Curve//Belt: Louis Vuitton//
Handbag: Saint Laurent //SandalsSam Edelman

Tomorrow I go back to work after being away for two weeks. It's been an interesting time away. In my previous post I mentioned going away for my birthday and this year I didn't. I challenged myself to stay home and spend time with myself. I've decided I don't wanna do that anymore. least not so much time by myself.  Now, don't get me wrong  nobody loves me more than me, but I probably should have gone somewhere with the amount of time I time took. Welp, when we know better, we do better.

Here's something I did do while I was away from work...I did things I wanted to do that nobody was really interested in. I went to a couple of museums, worked out, and I bought myself something  nice. So I can't complain.

The good news is that tomorrow I go back to basics. Or back to reality? Back to my normal routine of my nine to five work schedule with clear expectations of what my weeks will look like.
Cheers to the basics!

Staycation Workouts

Capri Leggings: c/oLola Getts
Use code: Glamazon15

I took time off for my birthday this year and didn't take my usual birthday trip. Usually I make a point to be gone for my birthday because it's easier to be somewhere exploring, rather than making plans to celebrate yourself with friends and trying to make sure they have a good time.

Admittedly, this year I had a bit of the birthday blues. I took two weeks off from work because I was planning to go somewhere, but when I couldn't decide on a location I stayed home for a 2 week staycation.  I was able to get chores done, catch up on TV, go to a museum, but truthfully I was bored most of the time. My friends are working during the day so I wasn't able to make many lunch plans. I do most of my shopping online so I wasn't hitting up the mall everyday...what does that leave left? Working out!

The good news is that I felt super cute each time I stepped foot in that studio! I don't even want to workout if I'm not wearing something from  Lola Getts. Having a cute workout outfit makes all the difference in the world when your body is tired and you're losing motivation. And here is more good news, you can use code Glamazon15 for 15% off your order at checkout!

So...yep, that's how I kept myself busy. Exercise. I've been going to TrainingMate since about February and I really enjoy it, so I used this time off to get in a few extra classes. I told myself I would master the plank and an assisted pull-up at some point so now was my chance to really practice. I attended class eight times in seven days and I took one day off. To say that I was tired would be an understatement. But I did it and I am glad I did. Setting a goal to exercise gave me something to look forward to.  It was small and simple, but sometimes the small goals have the biggest payoff.

Summertime Shopping

Saturday, July 6, 2019

Is it just me or have you been looking forward to the summer all year long. This year in Los Angeles we've hide a lot of rain and I have been looking forward to swimsuit season since January.  It felt like we were having a monsoon for three months! I know I know that is completely an exaggeration however for a Southern California girl, one drop of rain on the ground means we all need to pull out our parkas!

Recently I've been taking advantage of summer sales at a few of my favorite online clothing stores via EBates.  If you're unfamiliar EBates, here's how it works. You shop at your favorite stores and get cash back! It's that simple. It's free to sign up and if you're already doing most of your shopping online then this is perfect for you. The best part is, if you already have accounts with your favorite retailers all you have to do is log-in to your account from the EBates website or the app. Plus, you can always take advantage of the sale the retailer is having at the time! And each quarter you get a nice check, direct deposit, or PayPal deposit from EBates! Viola!

Honestly, I was super skeptical at first but I figured why not and took a chance. When I got my check for $10 at the end of three months, I was shocked! IT WORKED! So, if you are interested in checking out EBates, take it from me....It is worth it!

Here is a list of my favorite places to shop via EBates...but you can honestly search just about anything!
  • ASOS
  • Banana Republic
  • Old Navy
  • Target (I know right!? I use my RedCard too!)
  • Shein
  • Lane Bryant
  • Soma
  • Foot Locker
Happy shopping and let me know when you get your first check!

As we get closer and closer to the official first day of summer, I have to remind myself to pull out all of my dresses! Summers in LA can be unbearable so knowing that my closet is stocked with pieces that will help me stay cool and remain stylish is perfect.

Not only does LolaGetts have amazing athleisure, but they make dresses too! I'm so ready for the hot weather that is fast approaching because I know this dress will get plenty of use.

Yoga Pants with Lola Getts

 Leggings: c/o Lola Getts

This year I am focusing on trying to realign myself and my priorities. I started to realize when certain things in my life that I can control are aligned or in order, the things I would like to control will most likely align as well. So I started going to yoga 2 or 3 times a week. I originally started going to yoga because I needed something that would help me de-stress. I didn't realize that I would learn so much about myself and find a lot of parallels with practicing yoga and life.

In class they remind us that we are there for a reason. We are there to help heal ourselves from within and to allow ourselves to go through the journey. Everybody's journey is so different. There are good days and bad days. Days when I feel like I can go in there and hit every posture perfectly and there are days when I go in and feel like it's a struggle to even walk through the door. All in all it has truly been a journey. I've seen my anxiety lessen and I've seen a difference in how I handle specific situations. I'm not a calm person by nature so 90 minutes 2 or 3 times a week really gives me a space to focus and allow myself to relax.

Now I would be crazy if I said I didn't think thoroughly about what I put on each time I went to yoga. Lately I have been wearing nothing but my favorite leggings from  Lola Getts. They are so comfortable and the fit is unreal. The quality is insane and they're so versatile. I've been wearing them for all of my workouts and even on the weekends. They ALWAYS have really cute patterns. Recently I have been obsessed with the black metallic leggings and my pink pair! I have been wearing them all over town. OH! And I also really love my Cabernet pair!  I LITERALLY wash them twice a week so I can wear them to two different workouts! You may have heard me say this on Instagram but I absolutely love these leggings! If you are looking for top quality workout clothes then this is the brand for you. When have you ever seen  plus athleisure that is not only fashionable, high quality, and functional!!??

The Suit that Set Me Free

Tuesday, April 2, 2019

Swimsuit: Aerie//Sunnies: Quay//Watch: Michael Kors//Earrings: Gorjana

Spring has sprung so I guess that means it's time to get your swimsuits out, right? There are so many women I know who hate swimsuit season. Even when I say the word, "swimsuit" I can see the hair on the back of their necks stand up. I always try to remind them that being in a swimsuit should be liberating! No matter what your body type is, you should feel free. Being free in my own skin is one of the best feelings ever.

Now, I would be lying if I said that I woke up every morning feeling confident and free. I surely don't. But I try to stay active and live a balanced lifestyle which helps promote my confidence. I recently completed my 3rd round of Whole30. Two years ago a friend of mine introduced me to Whole30 and I have tried to incorporate it into my lifestyle since. Whole30 is not meant to be sustainable, but it is meant to bounce your body back into its natural state. In a nutshell it is 30 days with no sugar, no dairy, no legumes, and no grains. Sounds nuts, right!? When I first attempted this, two years ago, I thought to myself, "No cheese? I can't!" But the 30 days went by so fast that by the end I didn't have a desire for much diary.

Fast forward 2 years and I've completed Whole30 for the third time. Honestly this time around it felt harder and I didn't have the same results as I did previously but I feel amazing. And THAT is what it is about. Confidence is all in how you feel and I feel free.  No one can take that away from me because I earned it.

For me there is nothing better than finding a great swimsuit that helps to display my confidence. This gem is from Aerie. I bought it back in January for a vacation and never wore it. The good news is that it is ON SALE currently! Here's what I love: I'm able to adjust the straps tight or loosen them when I need to. There is plenty of room in the places I need it and it's super comfy! Comfy, cute, and easy to wear. What else do you need??

When you look for new swimsuits be sure to look for something that will promote your confidence and help you feel free.

Ruffle One-Shoulder Swimsuit: Swimsuits for All

Okay so it's been a while since I posted anything new. I wanted to be sure I had something that was worth your while. Plus I think it's always important to take time for myself and really reflect on what message I want to bring in each post and overall to The Simple Glamazon. The Simple Glamazon has been a place of refuge for me over the past five years and a place for my followers to find inspiration on fashion, lifestyle and travel.
Color Block Swimsuit: ASOS
So I'm back! I recently took my annual girls trip with my friends to the Bahamas. Each year during the third week in January we go somewhere new and It's usually a place by a beach. All three of us love the ocean and love the feeling of relaxing on the beach with a delicious cocktail. This was the first time each of us had been to the Bahamas so we were really looking forward to the trip! This was our opportunity to explore the city, explore the sea life, be silly, and relax! Six days of quality girl time.

Unfortunately when we got there the weather was not ideal for 6 days of beach play. It was relatively colder than expected and extremely windy. As a matter of fact it rained one day! And I am talking torrential downpour! The raindrops were the size of softballs. But, when you're with good company you can always make the time enjoyable. So we spent the rainy day indoors playing games, having amazing cocktails, and being silly. You'd be surprised how silly 35 year old women can be...probably not!

Yellow Swimsuit: Cupshe

Fortunately we were able to get in a day and a half of beach time and one full day at the pool. The beaches in the Bahamas are absolutely stunning. Growing up in Southern California I've always fancied myself a beach girl, however the beaches in the Bahamas are unlike any of the beaches I've ever seen. I've traveled to a few places in the Caribbean (here and here) however the beaches in the Bahamas are absolutely stunning. The water is so blue and the sand is so soft.
High-Waisted Bikini Bottom: Aerie//Scoop Bikini Top: Aerie

On the two days we left the resort we took advantage of the time in town. We explored the Queen's staircase, theRum Cake Factory, John Watling's Rum Distillery, and the local cuisine at the fish fry. I recommend all of these sites if you are able to visit the Bahamas. Plus, The people are amazing! they're so friendly, incredibly welcoming, and are very proud to share their beautiful island with you.
Will I ever go back to the Bahamas? Absolutely! There's so much history and rich culture so one trip will definitely not be enough.
