T-Shirt and Jeans: Part Deux

Good Morning and Happy Monday!

I hope you all had a great weekend!

One of the greatest things about living in southern California is that we can throw on a t-shirt and jeans almost every day of the week! Now, anyone who knows me well enough, knows that I am not a t-shirt and jeans kind of girl (I’ll always find a way to glam something up), but lately I have been busy with work and running errands on the weekends, so a t-shirt and jeans have been my go to!

What is your go to outfit?

50s Style

Sometimes when I look at old pictures from the 50s, I think I might have been from the wrong decade. I have always loved how the women were so feminine and not overtly sexy in the way they dressed. When these women were going for a sexier look all they had to do was show a little sliver of skin and the subtle sexiness would be just enough. They embraced their curves and took pride in being a classy lady!

When I saw this croptop from Forever21+ I was in love, but I wasn't sure how I was going to put it together. After playing around with chambray tops, acid wash jeans, and overalls (yes you read this correctly…don’t judge me!), I decided to take it all the way back to a different decade!

Acid Wash Jeans

I was recently doing some casual shopping with my aunt when I came across a pair of acid wash jeans in Forever21+. I was hesitant to try them on, but when I did, I instantly smiled and thought to myself, “I can SOOOOO do this!”

I was originally going to pair these jeans with a loose flowy top, but when I put on this tank from H&M (originally the under shirt) I thought this looked even better! I added a clutch that my aunt made for me for some color, and once the look come fully together I felt like Kelis in the “Milkshake” video…LOL!

As we were taking these shots, I got a honk from someone driving by. So I guess this look will definitely bring all the boys to the yard!

A Great Dress

When I look for dresses I of course try to stay in my price range, and find a dress that is flattering to my figure. Often I have my dresses tailored for the perfect fit, but there are some rare occasions when I find a great dress that fits perfectly in the dressing room! Thank you again New York & Co.

As fall very slowly approaches, I know this dress can be transitioned from our late and VERY hot summer into fall. The mock turtle neck gives the dress a touch of class, and the ruching on the side can disguise any imprecations you have you in your midsection. I also love that a tea-length dress looks good on almost every figure!

Since the weather has been so unbearably hot and this is sleeveless, I can't wait to wear it out for lunch or drinks with the girls!

Birthday Vacation

Over the past week I took some time off to celebrate my birthday. I am very fortunate to work for a company that requires their employees to take days off of work each year! WOO HOO! I use that time each year to celebrate myself and take a week to myself.

I spent time with my aunt and went to Zumba and Line-Dancing class with her, went to happy hour and saw a movie, went to PaintNite, and went to another happy hour, all the while having great meals and great wine!

I have to say that the best of my week was PaintNite! If you’ve never done this before I totally recommend it! It was SO MUCH fun! My friend Sara took me to a little cafĂ© in Encino that was holding the event and we had a blast. PaintNite is not a “How To” painting class, but it is a structured painting class for a specific picture. The facilitator shows you what to do, but gives you free range on how you would like to paint the image! And, at the end you get a lovely picture to take home!

Getting older each year is always bitter sweet because I look back at what was and then wonder about what will be. Now that I am officially in my 30s, am trying to look forward to what can be and what will be! Here’s to what will be in my 31st year!
