Christmas Sweater

Usually this time of year there are always so many different parties to go to! I have always been the girl who loves a party, so invites are always something I look forward to!

In recent years, the Ugly Christmas Sweater party has been a popular theme. I am not a huge fan of not dressing to my best, however I do love a great sweater! When I think of a Christmas sweater I think of sequins and glitter! Something that will really grab the attention of the room when you walk in!

I didn't have too many parties to attend this Christmas season, but I did find this great sweater from H&M

Plaid in December

This winter I have been really into plaid. I have pulled out all my old plaid tops and even bought some additional pieces to add to my collection. I don’t usually follow every single trend but this winter, I have felt like plaid has been so appropriate…for almost every occasion.

I found this plaid scarf and faux leather skirt while I was working in Washington State. I thought I would pair them together and create a bit of a 90s rocker look with the combo. Recently I have found my inner rocker chick, so this combination works to display part of what I have loved so much lately!

Holiday Gift Guide For Your Girlfriends

Each year around the Holidays I struggle to find the best gifts for my close girlfriends. I make the same call to a few, "What do you want or need for Christmas?". And each year I get the same answer, "I don't want anything." or my favorite, "You don't have to buy me anything."

Buying gifts for the people in my life has always been a struggle because I want them to love it and think of me when they use it. I hate when people return my gifts (although I know it happens, :)) because that means I didn't get them something they loved or something they could use.

Here are some ideas of great gifts at great price points your close girl friends will love!

When You Shop...You Wear...

HAPPY MONDAY!

Lately the weather has been cold, rainy and wet and I love it!!! It feels like Los Angeles is having an authentic winter! Usually the weather is very hot or just perfect, so having something different has been great!

Now that it’s Christmas season more people than ever are out shopping and looking for gifts for their friends and family. This means I’ll be spending more time behind my computer at home avoiding the lines! No one loves going to a mall or a trendy location to shop more than me; however a crowded mall is no fun! So my strategy has been to get up early and beat the crowds or stay home and point and click!

I found this Halogen trench a few years back on a whim at Nordstrom Rack for $23.00! Can you believe it!? It was marked down so many times, that when I looked the original price it was something around $260.00! I had to have it! They were giving it away, right??? It’s perfect because it’s lightweight and long enough to cover my hips. I haven’t had too many opportunities to wear it, so I am super excited that the weather calls for it now! These pumps are not ideal for the rain, but let’s be real, I always keep it glam!

Cozy up in a Sweater

Happy Friday!

Yay! Winter-ish is here! Every year I always look forward to pulling out my sweaters and coats that I needed in college. I don't get to wear them for very long since most of the year I have them in the back of my closet! However, I’m so excited that the weather has cooled down. Lately it has been raining cats and dogs, and I love it!

I found this sweater dress at H&M and at first I was a bit hesitant. I was wondering how I could make it work and what shoes I could I wear with it. I don’t know what I was thinking because once I got in the fitting room, I started dancing and walking around on my tippy toes because I loved it!!

Floral Dress

As you know I travel often for my job, so I am always looking for outfits to wear to work that are easy and will save me time. A while back I had another moment during my bi-monthly trip to New York & Co. when I saw a dress on the rack and had to have it! I love this dress because it falls right below my knees, and for a glamazon, finding any dress that hits the right spots when it fits is GREAT!!! I also love how this bodycon dress is so feminine yet is so classy. The scuba fabric also makes it super easy to throw in a suitcase and hop on a plane!

I’ve had about three weeks of busy travel but it’s always so good to be home so I can relax in my own digs and sleep in my own bed. Although that Hilton dial comfort bed is amazing!

What I've Been Wearing

In addition to keeping my clothing simply glam, recently I have been loving the plaid look. I love it because it is easy and I am able to glam it up with simple jewelry, a watch, and a great pair of boots!

I recently found these great boots ON SALE NOW at Nordstrom and I love them! What I love about a great pair a of boots, is that they are timeless. The more you seem to wear them, the better they get! As a 5 foot 11 inch glamazon, finding a pair of over the knee boots to fit properly is tough! So when I found these I had to have them! You know the feeling you get when you try something on and it fits so well that you gasp!!! That's exactly what happened! Check them out at your local Nordstrom! You will love them!!!

Solid Black

Recently, I've been wearing a lot of black. On the weekends I am usually running errands and catching up on chores from the work week I haven’t had a chance to do. So a solid color, usually black, has been my go to.

Although wearing black from head to toe is usually very easy, it’s also very easy to jazz it up with a fun handbag, a great chunky necklace, or even some really fun shoes! As The Simple Glamazon I make an effort to make getting dressed an easy task, but I always have to put my flare on it to glam it up!

How do you make getting dressed easy?

Simple Make-Up

Anyone who knows me, knows that I absolutely love wearing make-up! I think it is important to try to be presentable when you can. Wearing make-up is a right of passage for women that has grown over time.

When we go to the mall, the drugstore, and even the grocery store there are isles and isles of products to refine and make ourselves look great! For me, this means that I can find great products at any price point! It important to find products you love and that work for you. Spending a lot of money on beauty products is not always the answer!

Recently, I have transitioned from changing my make-up for each outfit, to keeping it simple and easy for the day. I have realized that finding beauty in simplicity can be very glamorous!

Below are some of my favorite go to items for my daily routine, and when I am keeping it simply glamorous!

Power of the Nude

I recently read an article in InSyle Magazine about nude shoes and how important it is to have the proper nude for your skin tone. I didn't realize until recently how true this was! Women come in many different beautiful shades and sizes, and having the right basics for your skin tone is crucial to having a wardrobe that is versatile and long lasting!

A good pair a nude shoes is something every girl should have in her closet. Nude shoes are an item that can be worn with so many different outfits in so many different seasons!

Do you have your nudes?

Harem Pants

Have you ever seen something in the store, and thought to yourself, “Hmmm...I like these, but how can I make it work?” Well, that’s exactly what I thought when I saw these Harem Pants in Forever21+. I saw them online and loved how they looked on the model (OF COURSE!), so when I saw them in the store I figured trying them on wouldn’t hurt anyone…right? Once I tried them on I wasn’t too sure if I could pull off the look, but after dancing around in the fitting room for a while, I thought to myself, “Hmmmm…for 18.00 bucks, I can take a chance!”

Fall Wish List

Each season I look at my closet and think about what I will need for the upcoming season. I always have to move things around and take inventory on what I will need...I mean want!  As fall weather slowly approaches (very slowly..its southern California remember??), I like to think about what I am looking forward to finding to add to my small shoe collection.

As long as I can remember I have had love affair with shoes. It stems from not being able to find shoes in my size as a young girl. Having a size 11 shoe did not make it easy when you wanted to have fun and flirty shoes like the rest of the girls! For a moment in time, I lived in sandals or sneakers because I knew I couldn't find anything cute in my size.

As an adult, I have come find SO MANY shoe designers who make size 11 shoes! WOO HOO!!

Here are some of my favorites shoe designers, and some shoes styles that are definitely on my fall wish list!

T-Shirt and Jeans: Part Deux

Good Morning and Happy Monday!

I hope you all had a great weekend!

One of the greatest things about living in southern California is that we can throw on a t-shirt and jeans almost every day of the week! Now, anyone who knows me well enough, knows that I am not a t-shirt and jeans kind of girl (I’ll always find a way to glam something up), but lately I have been busy with work and running errands on the weekends, so a t-shirt and jeans have been my go to!

What is your go to outfit?

50s Style

Sometimes when I look at old pictures from the 50s, I think I might have been from the wrong decade. I have always loved how the women were so feminine and not overtly sexy in the way they dressed. When these women were going for a sexier look all they had to do was show a little sliver of skin and the subtle sexiness would be just enough. They embraced their curves and took pride in being a classy lady!

When I saw this croptop from Forever21+ I was in love, but I wasn't sure how I was going to put it together. After playing around with chambray tops, acid wash jeans, and overalls (yes you read this correctly…don’t judge me!), I decided to take it all the way back to a different decade!

Acid Wash Jeans

I was recently doing some casual shopping with my aunt when I came across a pair of acid wash jeans in Forever21+. I was hesitant to try them on, but when I did, I instantly smiled and thought to myself, “I can SOOOOO do this!”

I was originally going to pair these jeans with a loose flowy top, but when I put on this tank from H&M (originally the under shirt) I thought this looked even better! I added a clutch that my aunt made for me for some color, and once the look come fully together I felt like Kelis in the “Milkshake” video…LOL!

As we were taking these shots, I got a honk from someone driving by. So I guess this look will definitely bring all the boys to the yard!

A Great Dress

When I look for dresses I of course try to stay in my price range, and find a dress that is flattering to my figure. Often I have my dresses tailored for the perfect fit, but there are some rare occasions when I find a great dress that fits perfectly in the dressing room! Thank you again New York & Co.

As fall very slowly approaches, I know this dress can be transitioned from our late and VERY hot summer into fall. The mock turtle neck gives the dress a touch of class, and the ruching on the side can disguise any imprecations you have you in your midsection. I also love that a tea-length dress looks good on almost every figure!

Since the weather has been so unbearably hot and this is sleeveless, I can't wait to wear it out for lunch or drinks with the girls!

Birthday Vacation

Over the past week I took some time off to celebrate my birthday. I am very fortunate to work for a company that requires their employees to take days off of work each year! WOO HOO! I use that time each year to celebrate myself and take a week to myself.

I spent time with my aunt and went to Zumba and Line-Dancing class with her, went to happy hour and saw a movie, went to PaintNite, and went to another happy hour, all the while having great meals and great wine!

I have to say that the best of my week was PaintNite! If you’ve never done this before I totally recommend it! It was SO MUCH fun! My friend Sara took me to a little café in Encino that was holding the event and we had a blast. PaintNite is not a “How To” painting class, but it is a structured painting class for a specific picture. The facilitator shows you what to do, but gives you free range on how you would like to paint the image! And, at the end you get a lovely picture to take home!

Jumpsuits for Work

Shoes: JustFab

Happy Monday!

As most of you know I travel a lot for work, so I am always looking for pieces that are easy to travel with and easy to throw on in the morning! I need to be professional for my job, but ease and comfort are the basis of my work wardrobe.

I found this great jumpsuit at New York & Company and I was in love!! I have a new found love for jumpsuits and rompers, so when I found this one I had to have it!!

Dressing for my body type can be tricky sometimes, but the great thing about a jumpsuit is that it can add or forgive where you need it to! After a few people asking me where I got my jumpsuit, I figured I would tell the world and post it for all you glamazons!

I hope you all find a jumpsuit to fit your needs!

Romping Around

Happy August!!!

I was wondering around a mall I recently discovered in the valley, and I came across one of my FAVORITE stores, New York & Co. They are currently having a sale, so of course I had to go in and look! I found this romper and I was so excited because I had been looking for a black jumpsuit! (It was going to be a birthday gift to myself.) These are shorts, and a stretch for me, but I fell in love with it and I had to have it! Plus, it was half price! WOO HOO!

I have realized the best thing I get out of this blog, is that I am continually pushing myself to try new things. Last year, I would have never seen myself in shorts, a romper, or even a swimsuit, but as time goes on I find myself trying new styles and discovering how many different looks I can create! So far so good, right?

How do you push yourself out of your style comfort zone?

Plaza Theatre

Happy Friday!!!

During my recent vacation I took some time to go visit my family in Texas. I come from a very very big family and my father’s oldest sister lives in El Paso. Each year we take time to come together for three days and catch up. As always, it was a lot of fun!

This year I took advantage of some free time and some new scenery. The Plaza Theatre is an El Paso landmark in downtown. The Plaza Theatre been open since 1930 and shows productions ranging from Broadway plays to musical concerts. It still has its original vibe and made a perfect backdrop for my impromptu photo shoot!

As the Simple Glamazon, I have to make sure I am finding pieces that fit into my budget. Sometimes I have to take a different approach to finding what I want. I had been eyeing a few midi skirts, but I was having trouble finding what I wanted. So, in true Simple Glamazon fashion, I made a pattern and I made one myself! I like to fancy myself a closet DIY-er! The midi skirt has a 50s vintage feel to it, so the Plaza Theatre was the perfect backdrop to showcase the new skirt. I am very happy with how the skirt turned out!

What do you do when you are looking for something and you can’t find it?
